Mountain Lion killed in Connecticut ventured from South Dakota

In case anyone is curious about the range of the cougar, one of our country’s most elusive creatures, read this.

It’s funny, really, when people who report big cat sightings in areas not considered habitat get blown off for mistaking a stray dog or maybe even a little bobcat. Look people, these things are out there. Incidents like this call into question the border disputes regarding wolves and bison in and around Yellowstone. Hopefully—and it’s shame a cat had to die—this instance can serve as one more reason why we need to allow animals, as the Patagonia environmental project states, the freedom to roam.

Care about wildlife? Then watch.

I have to thank Steve Casimiro at The Adventure Life for bringing this to my attention. It is an absolutely riveting two minutes of rare animals being recorded as just themselves in a stark, blast-white backdrop that perfectly captures what makes these great creatures so unique. This is too good to call it a waste of time at work. Call the kids.
